THE MALAYA

The Malaya restaurant is a Sydney icon. Established in the 1960’s, it was one of the first to offer Sydneysiders spicy South East Asian cuisine. Following a change of ownership, the restaurant sought to reposition itself. Integral to this was the creation of an evocative identity to be applied to signage, menus, stationery, and be capable of extension to retail environments, on packaging for a range of products now distributed through gourmet food outlets throughout Australia.

The identity combines visual references to the Malaysian 14-pointed star and a wok. The combined symbol is a dynamic representation of the tantalising tastes for which the restaurant is renowned.
