Hambledon Cottage, Parramatta, NSW

Parramatta and District Historical Society commissioned us to produce a book to mark the Society’s centenary and celebrate its home, Hambledon Cottage.

Focusing on the history of the Cottage since its construction for John Macarthur in 1824; its owners and occupants, restoration work, surrounding gardens and reserve, and the custodianship of the Society, ‘The Cottage on the Plain’, is a significant publication for the Society, presenting the heritage listed Cottage and its colonial furniture and antique collection in a way never before undertaken in the Society’s 100 years.

The book is lavishly embellished with archival and contemporary images, and complemented by architectural elevations and an original watercolour illustration of the site plan; created by JDA to enhance the narrative and readership appeal.
