EARLY LEARNING AT BROKEN BAYAn information brochure was developed to engage prospective community partners and enhance their understanding and appreciation for the philosophical and professional quality of the 'Early Learning at Broken Bay' brand. The dandelion was chosen for its uniqueness and ability to convey concepts associated with Early Learning in the Diocese. The dandelion is a symbol of happiness and hope. Everyone, as a child, remembers the feeling of awe and discovery, blowing the seeds from a dandelion. The seed cluster is evocative of a 'group', or ‘community’. The shape of the seed head – the circle – has symbolically represented ‘groups’ or ‘gatherings’ for millennia. The dandelion is also a powerful metaphor for 'transition' – the disbursed seeds being evocative of the child's transition from early learning to 'big school'. Imagery symbolic to the Catholic Faith are complemented by children of varying age, in natural settings, engaged in play, education, sensory experiences, quiet reflection and social interaction. |
